Entry to Bolivia from abroad

It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents, and in compliance with any other immigration requirements, before you travel.

Bolivia does not require validation of vaccines but, upon entering the country,  you will need to prove full vaccination status with the appropriate document from a national or state-level public health body if vaccinated abroad.

It is mandatory to have received at least two doses of the primary vaccination program (or 1 dose for CanSino or Janssen vaccines). The last dose must have been received at least 14 days prior to arrival. Booster vaccines are only necessary to enter Bolivia if they are mandated in your home country.

In case you don’t have a vaccination record, you must present an Antigen or PCR test done within 48 hours before entering Bolivia.

Mandatory:

•  VISA for tourism: (Only these countries do not require visa to enter Bolivia.)
  • It’s highly recommended to process the visa before arrival, processed first online and continue with the process at your nearest consulate office.
  • You can also process the visa at the border upon entering Bolivia:
    • You must bring USD 160 per person in cash to pay for the visa.
    • 4 passport-size photos: current photograph (4×4 white background).

Documents to present at the the border:
*Bring all documents printed and a photocopy of each.

• Valid passport. Every passenger’s passport must have at least 6 months’ validity remaining with empty pages.
• Two photocopies of the passport of each traveler.
• Present a trip itinerary and return flight tickets.
• Proof of accommodation. This document could be a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation issued by a lawful resident of Bolivia.
• Proof of funds. A sworn declaration of financial means is provided by government officials upon entry. Passengers have to provide documents to back it up, such as bank or credit cards statements.
• Proof of COVID Vaccines. Proof of full vaccination status (at least 2 doses with the last dose received at least 14 days prior to arrival) via a document from a national or state-level public health body if vaccinated abroad. Bring the document printed or a photocopy of the vaccination card.
• All passengers, independent of vaccination status, have to present a “Traveler’s Affidavit for COVID-19 Tracking” form upon arrival.
• Yellow Fever Vaccination Card: (If you are visiting Uyuni only, this vaccine is not required) Passengers visiting high-risk zones for yellow fever: Chuquisaca, La Paz, Cochabamba, Tarija, Santa Cruz, Beni, and Pando. More information can be found in the Ministerial Resolution 0028/2009. (If you are visiting Uyuni, this vaccine is not required)
• We highly recommend traveling with all documents and vaccination certificates printed.

Recommended: 

• Travel Medical Insurance is not mandatory to enter Bolivia; however, we highly recommend passengers take out travel insurance. Your insurance should provide cover against personal accidents, medical expenses, emergency repatriation and personal liability as well as any adventure activities not covered under a standard insurance policy.
