Today, your journey takes you further toward Saltos del Mocona, with a must-stopover at the San Ignacio Ruins en route. Although the drive may stretch out a bit, you can be confident that the destination will compensate itself for the travel. As you proceed, you’ll gradually transition into the heart of the jungle, where you’ll witness the stark contrast between the open grasslands and wetlands, to the vibrant, verdant, and lush rainforests of Misiones.
After a 5-hour drive, you’ll reach the San Ignacio Mini Ruins. These ruins stand as a remarkable testament to the enduring legacy of the Jesuit missions that thrived in South America during the colonial period of the 17th century. The ruins showcase an impressive architectural heritage, featuring intricately designed structures that seamlessly blend indigenous and European architectural styles. These missions were established with the dual purpose of converting and educating indigenous people while also providing them protection from the scourge of slave traders. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this recognition underscores the historical and cultural significance of these missions. The long-awaited day has finally arrived, and it’s time to explore the Argentine Falls, nestled within the boundaries of Iguazú National Park. This extraordinary site boasts an impressive collection of over 275 cascades spread along cliffs and islets, accessible through a network of thoughtfully designed path circuits.
Upon entering the park, you’ll board the ecological train, providing convenient access to the Falls’ various circuits. The specific route may be subject to park conditions, but one notable stop is the Upper Circuit. This trail spans 1750 meters and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Iguazú Falls and the Iguazú River Delta. It’s an easy, level path that allows you to immerse yourself in the native flora, listen to the melodies of local birds, and spot wildlife like caí monkeys and coatis.

The grand finale of this excursion is the access to the Devil’s Throat, the most magnificent waterfall, standing at around 90 meters in height. In the afternoon, you’ll leave the Falls behind for an awe-inspiring experience at La Lorenza Reserve.
